Kabul: Three days after blasts near the Hamid Karzai International airport killed about 180 people, another powerful explosion rocked the Afghan capital on Sunday.
According to the Afghan police chief, a rocket hit the north-west neighbourhood of Kabul airport, killing a child.
Some media reports claimed that the rocket — which was meant to strike the airport — killed a second person in the residential area.

Earlier on Sunday, the US warned of a “specific, credible” terror threat and advised American citizens to stay away from the airport and airport gates.
US President Joe Biden echoed the warning, saying that another terror attack on Kabul airport was highly likely. A similar advisory had been issued before Thursday’s terror attack that killed at least 169 Afghans and 13 US service members.
The US retaliated by killing two militants of ISIS-K, which claimed responsibility for the previous attack.
The US is in the process of evacuating the remaining personnel of its troops ahead of the August 31 deadline which had been set by President Biden.
