Balangir: Child sacrifice continues unabated in the state without any fear of the law. In the latest case, perpetrators of the crime did not spare a newborn, whose body was recovered in Titilagarh near the Bahidarapada railway track in Odisha’s Balangir district on Thursday.
It is suspected that the baby was sacrificed to appease God as some articles used for worshipping were found just a few metres away from the spot.
Locals spotted the newborn’s body and informed the police who reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem.
On October 16 last year, the headless body of a minor boy was recovered from a river near Sundhimunda village under Sindhekela police limits. The police cracked the murder and found it to be a case of human sacrifice.
