Berhampur: A member of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) was allegedly bludgeoned to death at Nilakantha Nagar under Gosaninuagaon police limits in Odisha’s Berhampur on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Soudamini Rath.
According to sources, the assailant attacked her from behind while she was speaking to someone over the phone and bludgeoned her to death.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body for postmortem. Though the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected to be the fallout of past enmity.
Police have detained her driver for questioning.
Soudamini was associated with several NGOs and worked for HIV positive children.
