Bhubaneswar: Police along with Childline have stopped a child marriage and rescued the girl in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the Childline officials were informed about the marriage of a minor girl in a house in Dumduma area of the city on Friday night.
The Childline officials along with personnel of Khandagiri police station went to Dumduma and conducted a raid on the house.
They stopped the marriage of the girl, who was not of legally marriageable age, being performed by her parents. They also rescued the girl from the house and accommodated in a Childline facility.
The Childline will file a complaint with police against the girl’s parents in this regard later in the day, sources said.
