Children Aged 4, 14 & 15 Years Among 19 More COVID Casualties In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8648 on Wednesday with 19 more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Among the deceased are three children aged 4, 14 and 15 years. Three casualties each have been reported from Khurda (including two from Bhubaneswar) and Mayurbhanj districts and two each from Cuttack, Puri, Dhenkanal and Rayagada, the Health Department informed through tweets.

Details of the deceased after an audit:

1.A 35 years old male of Balasore district.

2.A 14 years old girl of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Anorexia under evaluation.

3.A 70 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Cerebro Vascular Accident, Hypertension & Diabetes Mellitus.

4. A 45 years old male of Bhadrak district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.

5. A 4 years old male child of Cuttack district who was also suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition.

6.A 57 years old female of Cuttack district.

7.A 65 years old male of Dhenkanal district

8.A 65 years old male of Dhenkanal district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.

9.A 15 years old girl of Kandhamal district who was also suffering from an autoimmune disorder.

10.A 65 years old male of Kalahandi District.

11.A 68 years old male of Khurda district who was also suffering from Cerebro Vascular Accident.

12.A 75 years old male of Mayurbhanja district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Severe Anemia.

13.A 52 years old male of Mayurbhanja district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus.

14.A 25 years old male of Mayurbhanja district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Hypertension.

15.A 85 years old female of Puri district who was also suffering from Hypertension.

16.A 65 years old female of Puri district who was also suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

17.A 90 years years old female of Rayagada District.

18.A 40 years old male of Rayagada district.

19.A 74 years old male of Sundargarh District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Chronic Kidney Disease & Left ventricular failure.

Notably, the state saw fatalities in single digits till Thursday (January 27) and none the following day. Ten deaths were reported on January 28 and another 15 on January 29. The COVID tally was highest in five months on January 30 when 19 deaths were confirmed after an audit. Odisha saw 18 more deaths due to the deadly disease on Monday (January 31) and 17 on Tuesday (February 1).

Odisha had reported a total of 147 COVID deaths in January. There were 56 casualties in December. As many as 80 COVID deaths were confirmed in November, 134 in October and 346 in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in the Health Department.
