Bhubaneswar: The five-day Chilika Shelduck Carnival, which has always been a major attraction for people of Odisha and those staying outside the state, will begin this weekend.
The carnival will bring myriad folk dance and art forms together and will commence on December 10 at the ODI ART Centre at Barkul. The theme for this year is ‘Transdisciplinary Art for Transmission’.
The ODI ART Centre is a unique art complex, nestled on the bank of Chilika. Spreading over five acres, the centre aims at showcasing rich folk and tribal art heritage.
The registration will be done on the first day around 2.30 pm at the conference hall. ‘Chilika Samman for Creative Excellence’ will be inaugurated at 4.30 pm in the presence of Minister of Tourism and Culture Ashwini Kumar Patra as the chief guest, Designer, Art Curator and Scenographer Padma awardee Rajeev Sethi as the guest of honour, and Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) chairman Lenin Mohanty at the open-air amphitheatre of the centre.
