Raipur: Two workers were injured and many others are feared trapped after a chimney at a smelting plant collapsed in Chhattisgarh’s Mungeli district on Thursday.
The mishap took place in a plant located in Mungeli’s Saragaon area, PTI quoted Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhojram Patel as saying.
As per preliminary information, at least 25 workers got trapped when the silo – an iron structure used to store bulk materials – crashed.

Panic and chaos gripped the site as dozens of workers were trapped beneath massive amounts of rubble.
Emergency teams, including police and officials of local administration, rushed to the site and launched rescue efforts. Heavy machinery was brought in to clear the debris and look for survivors.
Two injured workers have been rescued so far and shifted to a hospital in Bilaspur.
