China Halts US-Made Boeing Jet Deliveries; Donald Trump Cries Foul

Washington: Even as Donald Trump put his sweeping global tariffs on hold for 90 days, the trade war between the US and China shows no signs of thawing.

In the latest escalation involving the world’s biggest economies, China on Tuesday directed its airlines to stop taking deliveries of jets from American aviation giant Boeing, Bloomberg reported.

Beijing has also reportedly told its airlines to suspend purchases of aircraft-related equipment and parts from US companies.

China, it may be recalled, imposed 125% retaliatory tariff on all US products in response to Trump’s 145% levy on Chinese imports.

Reacting to Beijing’s decision, Trump accused China of pulling out of a major agreement with Boeing, claiming the country is no longer taking delivery of aircraft it had already committed to buy.

“Interestingly, they just reneged on the big Boeing deal, saying that they will ‘not take possession’ of fully committed to aircraft,” the US President wrote in a post shared on Truth Social.

He also criticised the Joe Biden administration. “They had ZERO respect for the Crooked Biden Administration, and who can blame them for that?”
