Beijing: Acclaimed Chinese virologist Shi Zhengli, also known as ‘Bat Woman’, has published new evidence that suggests her laboratory was not the source of the global pandemic.
Shi, deputy director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, said that miners who fell sick with a mysterious respiratory disease eight years ago after clearing bat feces, didn’t have the COVID-19 virus in their latest blood reports.
In February, she had suggested bats could be the initial hosts of the virus.
