Cuttack: Former honorary secretary of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) Asirbad Behera, who was arrested in the chit fund scam, was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack on Thursday for due to bad health.
The Khurda District and Sessions Judge court had on Wednesday rejected Behera’s bail petition. This is the second time the court rejected his bail plea.
Behera was arrested from his residence in Cuttack on September 19 on the basis of a non-bailable warrant issued by the Special CBI CJM court. The CBI had framed a a charge-sheet against him in connection with the Artha Tatwa Group of Companies chit fund scam.
After his arrest, the CBI had produced him in the Special CBI CJM court on the same day. The court later remanded him to Jharpada Jail after rejecting his bail plea.
However, the jail authorities admitted him to the Capital Hospital on September 23 after he reportedly fell ill.
