Keonjhar: In an unfortunate incident, seven students were injured after chunks of a ceiling fell on them at a primary school in Ghatagaon block of Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Friday.
Those injured are Rajashree Nayak, Sonali Munda, Sukumari Munda, Arati Hanhaga, Janusingh Purti, Gangi Munda and Ankita Munda. They were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) by school staff. The students are out of danger now.
Classes had resumed only 14 days ago after repairs were undertaken in the school building, according to a media report.
The repairs were undertaken after headmistress Abhamayi Rout, who was transferred to the Arjunbilla primary school during the COVID pandemic, wrote to the Block Education Officer (BEO), apprising him about the dangerous condition of the school building.
An amount of Rs 2.6 lakh was allotted for the repairs.
Additional BEO Purushottam Dhal and cluster resource centre coordinators Dharanidhar Mahant and Nabakrushna Rout reached the CHC to inquire about the condition of the injured students.
Dhal said appropriate action would be taken against those responsible.
