New Delhi: The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) sought permission from all States and Union Territories’ Chief Ministers to partially reopen schools from January 4, reported NDTV.
The reopening of schools would enable students to participate in practical, project, SUPW works and also allow them to clear doubts.
In a statement, CISCE stated that if reopened, the schools will function according to the SOPs and safety guidelines issued by the government.
The council also urged the Chief Election Commissioner to share state election dates, saying that “This will enable CISCE to finalize schedules for ICSE-Class X ISC Class XII year 2021 examinations and to ensure that there are no clash of dates, interruption of the examinations or any inconvenience that may be faced by candidates taking these examinations.”
Earlier in October, CBSE and CISCE had shared that discussions were underway to determine the possible dates for board examinations for classes 10 and 12. CBSE has not yet announced any date but some information is expected by December 10, 2020 when Education Minister goes live.
The schools have been closed since March 2020. While some states have permitted reopening of schools for Classes 9 to 12, many states have refused to give permission for the same. The resultant impact is felt on the board examinations.
