Bhubaneswar: An ASI of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) succumbed to injuries, which he sustained after being hit by a car last night, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Niranjan Pradhan.
According to sources, the accident took place while he was on his way to Biju Patnaik International Airport for night duty on a motorcycle from Pokhariput via Kargil Basti. He was hit head-on by a car being driven by one Sovan Mohapatra allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
He sustained grievous injuries on his neck and head. He was rescued by locals, who immediately rushed him to a hospital. He succumbed around 3 am.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Mohapatra, a painter by profession, and seized the car. His blood alcohol content was found to be around 200mg/dl.
