Bhubaneswar: Plans are afoot to construct a new Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) building, including the Intelligent City Operations and Management Centre (ICOMC), at Unit-IX.
The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) on Friday came out with a tender notification (request for proposal), regarding the construction of the buildings on engineering procurement construction (EPC) mode, at an estimated cost Rs 67 crore.
The 2,31,000 square feet structure of BMC office and ICOMC will be developed in an area of 4.04 acres. It will have parking facility in the basement, BMC office on lower and upper ground floor, ICOMC facility on first and second floors, cafeteria on the third and landscaped area with terrace and all the floors above it will have BMC offices.
According to the BSCL tender advertisement (RFP), the project will be completed within 24 months after the tender is awarded to the selected bidder. While the tender documents will be available from Saturday, the pre-bid meeting will be held on September 17 and the last date of receipt of the bid in web portal is on October 4.
While the last date of original documents and earnest money deposit (EMD) is on October 5, the technical bids will be opened on October 9. Details regarding the RFP would be available on tendersodisha.gov.in.
Notably, the basic step towards the construction of the BMC-ICOMC building, demolition of two government quarters of General Administration Department 4R/3 and 4R/4 started on August 8 by the joint team of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) at Unit-IX, opposite Satya Nagar crematorium.
Apart from the 12 quarters, there was also a firewood godown of Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC), which was supplying wood for people coming to use the Satya Nagar crematorium. The BMC, was asked by the state government to accommodate the OFDC facility inside the crematorium ground so that people would be benefited.
