Bhubaneswar: Major markets and jewellery stores were abuzz with activity on Tuesday with denizens crowding these places to buy gold and silver ornaments on the occasion of Dhanteras.
Keeping the festive season in mind, several jewellery shops are offering attractive discounts and schemes to lure the customers.
The price of 22 carat gold now stands at Rs 30,130 per 10 gram and that of 24 carat gold is Rs 31,360.
“This year, we are offering flat 5.4 per cent discount on gold jewellery, up to 20 per cent on diamonds and 50 per cent discount on making charges of silver items at all Khimji stores,” says an employee at the jewellery shop. .
For Amrita, a customer, it is a tradition. “We purchase something made of gold or silver on Dhanteras as the day is considered auspicious and it brings prosperity to the family,” she said.
