Bhubaneswar: Like several other big cities across the globe, the capital city will shortly have a monumental clock tower. It will be located at the entry point of Mancheswar Industrial Estate near Mancheswar Police Station.
The clock tower, which will be among the first at a public place in the city, is being set up by the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) and Lions International, a renowned service organization, and shall be dedicated to the people of Bhubaneswar on September 24, UCCI sources said on Friday. Industries minister Niranjan Pujari will inaugurate it.
As part of Smart City perceptions, Lions Club of Bhubaneswar Magnum has constructed the clock tower, sources added. Magnum DB Foundation, founded by UCCI president Ramesh Mahapatra, and District Governor, Lions International Dist 322C-4 Geeta Rani Padhi, both Bhubaneswar-based industrialists, have funded its construction.
