Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the Indradhanu (ID) Market — a major market in the state capital — for 24 hours on Friday following the violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
“The market was sealed by the BMC for a period of 24 hours for gross violation of COVID protocols. In view of the weekend shutdown in the city, the market will reopen on Monday,” BMC Zonal Deputy Commissioner, South-West Zone said.
The BMC sealed garments showroom Reliance Trends in Saheed Nagar area on Thursday for seven days till May 5 after several employees tested positive for the deadly virus.
Earlier on April 28, the Bhubaneswar civic body sealed various markets, including the Market Building, VSS Nagar market and several shops in various parts of the city for violating COVID-19 protocols.
