New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has called off its 49-day agitation at Jantar Mantar with immediate effect after the Central government agreed to all its demands.
“We are calling off the agitation in good faith and hope that the government will keep its word on its promises,” CJP spokesperson Saurav Das announced on Saturday following the third round of meeting with Union ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh at Constitution Club.
“We appeal to everyone to leave the protest site and go home peacefully with immediate effect,” the other CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said at a joint press conference with the two ministers.
Besides the major development of Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, the government has also agreed to withdraw all FIRs lodged against student protesters in Delhi and other cities, as well as compensation for all families which lost their loved ones after the NEET paper leak fiasco.
As for the five-point charter of demands on education reforms submitted by CJP, Nadda said the government will study it.
“This five-point charter, which you gave me, five-point charter is related to reforms in education examinations. Regarding it, we have to say that we will think deeply about your charter for reforms in education examinations and after talking to your delegation, we will try to do whatever we can. So these were their demands. I think the government has sympathetically considered all the demands they had made and has also accepted them,” Nadda said.
