New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das has claimed that the party’s founder Abhijeet Dipke has been ‘picked up’ by the Delhi Police amid the March towards Parliament.
“Dipke has been picked up by the police! We request all MPs to immediately stand in support of the students on the streets! The police is brutally cracking down and beating up peaceful protesters,” Das posted on X, as reported by India Today.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) also claimed that its Lok Sabha MP Dimple Yadav has been detained by the police during a protest at the national capital. Dimple was one of the leaders who visited activist Sonam Wangchuk during his fast at Jantar Mantar.
The SP has called the detention “undemocratic” and highly “condemnable”.
In a post on X, the party claimed that Dimple and other SP MPs were detained while raising the concerns of students in Delhi. It also criticised the alleged lathicharge on students by the police.
CJP spokesperson Das, meanwhile, said that he and party leader Ashutosh Ranka met Union minister and former BJP president J P Nadda at his residence and handed over a written memorandum outlining its demands.
“After waiting for more than two hours, Ashutosh Ranka and I met J P Nadda Ji at his residence for 10 minutes. While we submitted a written letter with our demands, he has assured us that he will speak internally. We are in that process. There is news of mass detention etc,” Das posted on X.
There was massive traffic congestion in New Delhi after protesters managed to reach the Outer Circle of Connaught Place, before being stopped by the police.
