Trivandrum: Opener Aashirwad Swain led Odisha’s solid reply against Jharkhand in their CK Nayudu U-25 Trophy match at Greenfield stadium here on Wednesday.
After Jharkhand were bowled out in the first innings for 452, Odisha reached 153 for 1 at stumps on the second day. Aashirwad was unbeaten on a patient 91, compiled in 208 balls, while Debasish Samantray was keeping him company on 49 off 128 balls.
Debasish joined Aashirwad after Odisha lost the opening wicket of Gaurav Chaudhary at the score of 27. The two applied themselves well as they went about consolidating the Odisha reply with an undefeated 126-run partnership in 52 overs.
The Odisha bowlers did a great job this morning to restrict Jharkhand to 452. Having resumed at a strong 397 for 5, Jharkhand lost their last five wickets for just 37 runs. Krishna Pallei took two wickets today, Tarani Sa and Rajesh Mohanty one each, while one batsman was run out.
Satyakam Bharadwaj, who couldn’t add to his tally on Day 2, finished with 4/119.
