Trivandrum: Opener Gaurav Choudhary’s century helped Odisha post a fitting reply against Madhya Pradesh in their CK Nayudu Trophy clash at St Xavier’s KCA cricket ground here on Wednesday.
After MP had scored 331 in their first innings, Odisha reached 248 for 3 at stumps on Day 2.
Gaurav and Aashirwad Swain (30), who had scored a century in Odisha’s first match against Jharkhand, provided a fine start by putting on 74. Gaurav then found another able ally in M Prasanth, and the duo added 97 runs for the second wicket.
Gaurav fell for 105 which came in 150 balls and included 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Prasanth was dismissed for 59.
Anil Parida and Kartik Biswal were unbeaten on 25 and 15, respectively.
Earlier, MP were rescued by opener Harsh Gawali and captain Rahul Chandrol after being asked to bat first by Odisha skipper Rajesh Mohanty. After being reduced to 24 for 3, Gawali and Chandrol were involved in a 243-run partnership, with both batsmen scoring centuries.
Odisha eventually dismissed MP for 331 on the second day, with pacer Rajesh Mohanty bagging 4/47.
