Konark: In a shocking case of alleged juvenile delinquency, a minor boy has been detained by police on charges of sexually assaulting a junior in Konark area of Odisha’s Puri district.
As per preliminary information, a Class 10 student has been detained for questioning on c
harges of sexually assaulting a Class 8 girl of the same school. The incident has sparked outrage in the area.
Though the incident reportedly took place in the last week of March, it came to light after a formal complaint was filed by the parents of the girl on Tuesday.
As part of the standard legal and investigative protocol for such cases, both the victim and the boy are currently undergoing medical examinations at a hospital. The case is being handled under the relevant provisions of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, sources said.
The incident has once again brought to the forefront the growing trend of serious offenses committed by minors.
