New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has called a high-level meeting on Sunday with all states & UT education ministers, secretaries and chairpersons of state examination boards as well as stakeholders to discuss the pending Class 12 Board examinations and competitive entrance tests for professional courses.
CBSE and most state boards have deferred Class 12 exams because of the alarming surge in COVID-19 cases amid the second wave of the pandemic. Crucial career-defining entrance exams like JEE, NEET, CLAT etc. have also been postponed.
The important meeting, to be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, will also be attended by Women & Child Development Minister Smriti Irani and Minister for Information & Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar.
“I recently held a meeting with the state education secretaries in this regard. The consultative process will be further strengthened through a high-level meeting to be chaired by Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh Ji,” Nishank tweeted on Saturday.
“All the state government education ministers and secretaries have been requested to attend this meeting and to share their valuable views with regards to upcoming examinations. This virtual meeting will take place at 11.30 am on 23rd May, 2021,” he added.
