Balangir: A girl student of Class VIII was allegedly molested by a teacher inside the school complex in Odisha’s Balangir district, sparking outrage and tension in the area.
As per information, the incident took place in Dunguripali school under the jurisdiction of Deogaon police station in the district on Monday.
Sources said the minor student was subjected to misconduct by the teacher during school ho
urs. The victim as well as her family were left in a state of trauma following the incident.
It was alleged that school authorities have been attempting to suppress the matter internally to protect the institution’s reputation. Attempts are reportedly being made to arrive at a compromise with the victim and her family.
No formal written complaint has so far been been lodged at the Deogaon Police Station.
The shocking incident came to light after a video got circulated on social media. The visuals reportedly showed the accused teacher being physically assaulted by locals who took matters into their own hands after the incident came to light.
While the community waits for official action, alleged attempts at a settlement have raised serious questions about the safety of girl students in rural schools.
