Class III Student Dies, Another Critical After School Plaque Falls In Odisha



Bhubaneswar: A Class-III student was killed and another critically injured after a plaque reportedly fell on them at a government-run residential school in Odisha’s Koraput district on Wednesday.

The incident took place

at the school managed by the ST&SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department at Dhamanahandi panchayat under the jurisdiction of Kotapad police station in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Premanand Bhatra of Suaniguda village under Gumuda panchayat.

Sources said the concrete plaque installed on the school premises fell on the students in the morning. While Premanand died on the spot, the other student sustained critical injuries.

The authorities rescued the injured student and rushed him to SLN Medical College and Hospital at Koraput. His condition is stated to be serious.
