Bhubaneswar: Schools for the students of classes IX and XI reopened in Odisha after 10 months following strict COVID-19 guidelines on Monday.
According to the School and Mass Education Department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SoP), classes will be held for two-and-a-half hours starting at 8 am every day, consisting of three periods. The classroom teaching will continue for these two classes till April 30.
The teaching staff have been asked to report 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time. No half-day on Saturdays or weekly off on Sundays.
Routine was prepared according to the revised syllabus. It may be recalled that the syllabus was slashed by 30 per cent due to COVID-19 induced lockdowns.
One unit test will be held for the students in March second week and the annual examination will be conducted in April last week.
It has been decided by the government to engage retired teachers to meet the crisis arising out of large scale vacancies in various state schools. According to sources, subjects like Mathematics, English and Social Science will be taught on a priority basis.
However, the government had earlier reopened schools for the class X students setting a norm of 100-day classroom teaching. The annual examination will commence for Class X on May 3.
