Jagatsinghpur: In a shocking incident, a minor girl student of Class V has reportedly been found to be pregnant at a village in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
The incident has been reported from Balitutha area under the jurisdiction of Kujang police station in the coastal district. Based on preliminary investigation, the police have taken the private tutor of the minor girl into custody, sources said.
The incident came to light on Monday when the girl complained of pain in the stomach and her father took her to a hospital nearby. During medical check-up, she was reportedly found to be pregnant.
On being questioned, the girl informed the family members that the tutor had sexually assaulted her. He had allegedly threatened her not to disclose it to anyone.
A written complaint was then lodged with the police by the family members. Based on the complaint, the police have taken the private tutor into custody and sent the girl for medical examination. Further investigation is underway.
