Jeypore: A Class VI student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Koraput district was allegedly ragged and beaten up by some senior students of the school on Wednesday night.
The victim sustained serious injuries on his face and hands. He was admitted to Koraput Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
According to a complaint lodged by the victim’s family at Koraput town police station, four students of Class VIII of the same school dragged the child to a classroom. They wrapped him with a blanket and allegedly beat him up with iron rods.
The child’s father said, “Some senior students of the school threatened to kill his son by suffocating him with a pillow. We brought the matter to the notice of the warden and principal, but they denied any action fearing suspension. These students had ragged my son previously also. I want strict action against them.”
