Class VIII Girl ‘Abducted’ In Bhubaneswar After Missing School Bus, Found At Capital Hospital 5 Hours Later



Bhubaneswar: A Class VIII student of a government school under Bharatpur police limits was rescued from Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, five hours after she was allegedly abducted on Monday afternoon.

According to sources, the girl, who lives in the Airfield area, missed her school bus after classes ended. She contacted her family to let them know about the delay. However, when her guardians reached the school to pick her up, she was nowhere to be found. This led them to immediately file a missing person report at Bharatpur police station.

Following this, police launched a search operation and announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for any credible lead in the c

ase.

Preliminary investigation revealed that two young men on a motorcycle approached her while she waiting outside the school after missing the bus. They allegedly sprayed a substance on her face and abducted her. As police intensified their search, the accused reportedly abandoned their plan and brought the girl to Capital Hospital by car around 9.30 pm.

A female security guard at the hospital spotted the minor sitting alone and inquired about her well-being. Moments later, the girl suddenly lost consciousness. The two individuals who had accompanied her fled the scene. Due to shock, the girl was initially unable to provide a full account of what had happened. She was initially taken to the paediatrics ward and then transferred to the obstetrics and gynaecology department for a thorough medical check-up, before being reunited with her family.

Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena confirmed that the girl underwent medical examination following her rescue and is now out of danger. An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
