Paralakhemundi: A pall of gloom engulfed Govindpur village in Gajapati district after a Class X student drowned in a pond just an hour before he was sceduled to appear for his Matric examination on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Narayan Mallick.
According to reports, Narayan had gone to the village pond to take a bath, when he got drowned. The villagers immediately took him to the community health centre (CHC) at Chandragiri, but he was declared brought dead.
A doctor at the CHC said, “The boy had a history of suffering from seizures. He might have fallen unconscious due to stress-induced seizure and then drowned.”
Police have sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death.
