Phulbani: A class X student was found dead in the hostel of a residential school in Khajuripada area of Odisha’s Kanghamal district on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the hostel of Kalinga Adarsh Residential School under the jurisdiction of Khajuripada police station in the district. The deceased has been identified as Anandeshwar Mallik of Balisugri village.
Sources said the boy’s body was found hanging in the hostel’s toilet. Other students spotted the body and informed the hostel authorities, who subsequently alerted the police.
On being informed, a team of police personnel visited the school hostel and made arrangements for sending the body for autopsy. Investigation into the incident is in progress.
Meanwhile, brother of the deceased alleged that the school teachers had recently scolded Anandeshwar and asked him to study in another school. The family members held the hostel authorities responsible for the death of the boy and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
