Sonepur: A Class X girl student sustained critical injuries while frantically trying to fend off the neighbours attacking her uncle at Chulimala village under Bhandara panchayat in Sonepur district on Tuesday.
The incident took place while the girl, identified as Swagatika Bag, was on her way to school to get the admit card for the matriculation examination, slated to begin on April 29, sources said. She saw her uncle being attacked by his neighbours and rushed to his help.
She was hit with wooden planks and was admitted to Binika community health centre in a critical condition.
The attack is alleged to be the fallout of past enmity.
