Baripada: A Class X girl student was found hanging in a forest near Badasahi village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sulochana Nayak, a resident of Badasahi village.
“Although some villagers suspect that the girl killed self by hanging from a tree, we could not establish a concrete reason for the suicide as she did not leave any note behind”, a police officer said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause behind the death, the officer added.
The girl had reportedly been missing from her house since Wednesday. The victim’s family members searched but could not find her.
However, the body was spotted by some locals who immediately informed the girl’s family members and police.
