Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, a Class X girl student of a government-run residential school in Chitrakonda area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district gave birth to a baby.
As per information, the girl delivered a baby boy on Monday evening after her return to the hostel from the annual board examination.
The girl returned to the hostel after taking her High School Certificate (HSC) examination. The hostel warden reportedly contacted her father and when they arrived at the hostel, they discovered that their daughter had given birth to a baby.
The girl was subsequently shifted to the Sub-Divisional Hospital at Chitrakonda for further medical care.
Sources said the girl attended classes and appeared for exams without the school authorities noticing her condition.
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of students in the school. The girl’s parents have held the school authorities responsible for the incident.
On the other hand, the school teachers have blamed the hostel warden for the incident.
Meanwhile, Chitrakonda police have started an investigation into the incident. The District Welfare Officer (DWO) has also initiated a probe into the matter.
