Clerk & Peon Of CDMO Office Held For Taking Bribe For Contractual Doctor Posting

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Jagdish Pattnaik, a clerk, and Niranjan Nayak, a peon, posted in the office of Paralakhemundi CDMO in Gajapati district while allegedly accepting Rs 25,000 bribe from a young doctor.

According to a Vigilance release, the duo had demanded illegal gratification from the complainant to issue his appointment letter as a contractual doctor approved by the competent authority.

Following a complaint with the Vigilance authorities, a trap was laid and Pattanik and Nayak were caught red-handed with the bribe money, which was then recovered and seized from them. Simultaneous searches are currently underway at two locations linked to the clerk to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is underway, it added.
