Rourkela: A close aide of Peoples’ Liberation Front of India (PLFI) supremo Dinesh Gope has been arrested by Rourkela police, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh K Bhamoo.
Arjun Rana alias Kapil Pathak, a zonal committee member of the outfit, used to run an extortion gang that targeted businessmen and builders in Rourkela.
A semi-automatic rifle and five 9-mm live bullets were seized from Rana.
Rana has cases against him at Raghunathpali, Jhirpani, Koida, and Uditnagar police stations in Rourkela.
Last year, three members of the extortion gang had been arrested.
