Close Aide Of Red Fort Car Bomber Arrested In Srinagar; Know His Role In The Conspiracy

Srinagar: A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has arrested a close aide of Dr Umar un Nabi, the man who blew up a white i10 car near Red Fort a week ago, killing 13 and injuring many more.

Identified as Jasir Bilal Wani aka Danish, he was nabbed from Srinagar.

A resident of Qazigund in Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir, Danish was a co-conspirator in the Red Fort car blast and worked closely with Umar to plan the terrorist attack.

Not only was Danish involved in the bombing conspiracy with Umar, he was preparing to carry out another fidayeen (suicide) attack, India Today reported quoting sources.

The duo met for the first time in a mosque in Kashmir, where Dr Umar allegedly brainwashed Danish and instructed him to be prepared for a suicide attack.

According to NIA, Danish may have provided technical support for planned terror attacks by modifying drones and trying to make rockets in the run-up to the deadly car bomb blast near Red Fort on November 10.

Danish was detained by Jammu & Kashmir Police three days ago. His father, a dry-fruit seller, killed himself on Sunday by pouring kerosene on his body and setting himself on fire.

The NIA, which took over the investigation last week, has been coordinating closely with Delhi Police, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police and other Central units in what is being considered to be a major operation following the unearthing of a ‘red collar’ terror module involving several doctors of Faridabad’s Al-Falah University.

The NIA has already examined scores of witnesses, including survivors injured in the blast, as it looks to trace every link in the chain of the conspiracy.
