Bhubaneswar: The occupants of a car of the Odisha government had a close shave after the vehicle suddenly caught fire near Kalpana Square in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Sources said the car was registered under the Registrar of the State Information Commission. The incident when the registrar and the driver were inside the moving vehicle and both had a narrow escape.
As the car was moving on the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack stretch of the NH-16, flames suddenly appeared, prompting the driver to stop the car and both moved out immediately. Moments later, the car was engulfed in flames right in the middle of the road.
On being informed, Fire Service personnel reached the spot and swiftly brought the flames under control averting any major tragedy. The damaged vehicle was later lifted to one side of the road. Efforts are on to ascertain as to what caused the fire all of a sudden.
