Rourkela: Fifty students had a narrow escape when the school bus in which they were travelling crashed into a roadside divider after hitting a car in Odisha’s Rourkela city on Friday.
According to sources, a bus carrying students of a private school was en route to the school, when it first hit a car and then crashed against a roadside divider near House Chhak under Sector 3 police limits.
Police along with locals immediately rushed to the spot and helped the students alight from the vehicle safely. Three students in the car also escaped unhurt.
Though the exact reason of the accident was yet to be ascertained, initial reports suggested that the bus driver might have lost control over the vehicle after the car-bus dash.
It can be recalled that a similar indent had occurred in Cuttack on October 29 last, when a private bus had collided with a college bus and 10 girl students were injured. Though the driver of the passenger bus had managed to flee from the spot, he was later arrested by police.
