Phulbani: More than 50 students from Bhubaneswar narrowly escaped with their lives after their bus met with an accident late on Wednesday.
According to reports, the students from a private college in Bhubaneswar had gone for a picnic to Daringibadi in Kandhamal district. They were returning home on a ghat road when the driver of their private bus lost control after a rear tyre suddenly burst. Fortunately, the bus did not fall off the road with the front portion managing to hang on.
The students managed to come out of the bus by breaking the glass panes.
Following information, police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and took them to Soroda in a private bus.
Earlier on January 29, eight passengers were killed and over 40 injured when a private bus fell off a bridge at Palakhola on Taptapani ghat road in Ganjam district.
