Bhubaneswar: Four members of a family had a narrow escape on Tuesday when a goods truck collided with their hatchback and dragged it along the highway for nearly 100 metres near Pahala, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the harrowing incident occurred on the stretch between Nakhara and Pahala. The truck rammed into the car, carrying a couple and their two children, entangling the smaller vehicle underneath. Failing to stop immediately, the truck driver dragged the car along the road.
While the truck driver fled the scene soon after the accident, the injured family members were rushed to a local medical facility for treatment.
On being informed, Pahala police arrived and seized the truck. While an investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the crash, efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding driver.
