Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced his
government’s decision to confer individuals and organisations with
Fakir Mohan Odia Bhasa Samman for their contribution towards promotion
of Odia language and literature.
Addressing the state level celebration of 175th birth anniversary of
father of Odia literature Fakir Mohan Senapati at Jaydev Bhawan here,
the Chief Minister also launched a portal for providing scholarships
to meritorious students for securing 90 percent and above marks in
Odia subject in plus two and plus three examinations.
“Poet Fakir Mohan Senapati played a pivotal role in shaping the
language at the time when its distinctness was questioned. His
contribution to Odia language and literature is unforgettable.”
