CM Announces Rs 100 Cr Package For Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced a special package of Rs 100 crore for development of Malkangiri district, including the cut-off areas.

He made the announcement during the inauguration of the Gurupriya bridge in the cut-off areas of the district.

For improving livelihood of about 2000 fishermen’s family in the cut-off area, more than five crore fish seedlings would be released in the Chitrakonda reservoir, the Chief Minister said.

For better connectivity between Jodamba and Panasput panchayats, two road projects — one between Mukiput and Jamuguda and the other from Panasput to Jodamba — would be taken up. This apart, one 33 KV and one 11 KV sub-station would be set up at Badapada for electrification of the villages in the remote panchayats of Chitrakoda block, Naveen said.

He also announced four piped water supply projects and 100 bore wells in Badapada and Paprrmetla panchayats for making drinking water available in remote villages.

To provide better healthcare services to the people of six panchayats in the cut-off area, health sub-centres would be set up in select areas of these panchayats.

“To facilitate the Scheduled Tribe communities in the celebration of their biennial festival ‘Bada Yatra’, a bridge would be constructed at Manyamkonda. Besides, bridges will be built at suitable locations in Poteru, Pongam, Kangurukonda, MV-90, Undurukonda and MV-37 villages for better road connectivity,” the Chief Minister added.
