Cuttack: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the new bridge named as ‘Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Setu’ at Nuapatna on Mahanadi river on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “The new bridge is a fitting tribute to freedom fighter Madhusudan Das on the occasion of Utkal Divas.” Health Minister Pratap Jena and Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debashish Samantaray were present on the occasion.
The 2.5 km bridge connecting Cuttack with Nuapatna has been constructed at a cost of Rs 157 crore. The new bridge, which has been built entirely from the state government’s own resources, will shorten the distance on the road connecting Cuttack and Dhenkanal route by over 16 km.
The bridge will not only promote tourism, it will go a long way ensuring the socio-economic development of the area as it connects major heritage site of Dhabaleswar temple and the heritage village of Nuapatna.
