Bhubaneswar: A number of non-resident Odia organisations from across the country on Saturday felicitated chief minister Naveen Patnaik for being chosen as the best administrator of the country.
The members of different organisations recalled the chief minister’s contribution over last 17 years in transforming Odisha as the paradigm of development and growth. They thanked his untiring efforts for social and economic development of the state and his firm resolves to make Odisha the number one state in the country.
The Prabasi Odia community highlighted on how his leadership has enabled Odisha to gain recognition from the World Bank as a leader in the implementation of business reforms and in making Odisha as the most favoured investment destination in the country. The community expressed their gratitude for raising over 80 lakh people above the poverty line and the sharpest decline in the infant mortality rate, saving lives of over 50, 000 newborn babies every year.
The members underlined the achievements of the state in bringing about self-sufficiency in food grain production.
They hailed the leadership displayed by him during Phailin in 2013 in achieving gold standard of zero casualty winning global acclaim including from the United Nations and for providing Copy Book Lessons in Disaster Management. The community also noted the special initiative taken by the chief minister in making Odisha an international sports hub and recognised the world class arrangements made by the government at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar within a short span of 90 days.
Naveen informed the Prabasi Odias about his government’s decision to allot a suitable land in Bhubaneswar for construction of a cultural centre for the community.
The chief minister had received the prestigious Outlook Speakout Award-2017 as the Best Administrator in the country from the former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at a glittering function held in New Delhi on Friday.
