CM felicitates AAC medal winners

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday handed over cash awards to Indian athletes, who won medals in the recently concluded Asian Athletics Championships.
While 12 gold medalists were awarded Rs 10 lakh each, five silver medal winners were presented cash prize of Rs 7.5 lakh and the 12 with bronze medals Rs 5 lakh each.

Extending his heartiest congratulations to the medal winners, the CM said, “The performance of the Indian team at the championships has been the icing on the cake. All of us are extremely proud and
delighted that Indian not only topped the medals table but also registered its highest-ever medal tally as well as the highest-ever haul of gold medals in the 44 year history of Asian Athletics
Championships.”
Among others, sports minister Chandra Sarathi Behera, MLA Bijay Mohanty and other government officials attended the award ceremony.
