Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a 15-day statewide awareness campaign against child sexual abuse titled ‘Paree Pain Katha Tiye’ at the Traffic Police Station here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “I am delighted to flag off the statewide campaign against child abuse. The government has taken a number of steps to prevent violence against girl child and everyone has an important role to play in this regard.”
As a part of the campaign, jointly organised by Odisha Police and the UNICEF, as many as 15 specially designed Paree Express Vans will travel across the state to spread awareness among communities, families and parents. The vans will spread message on prevention of child sexual abuse by distributing leaflets and other printed materials followed by community interactions.
Each van equipped with an LCD screen will converge at Bhubaneswar on June 12 after covering all the 30 districts of the state.
Women and Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, MLAs Priyadarshi Mishra and Bijay Mohanty, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Police Commissioner YB Khurania and UNICEF Odisha chief Yumi Bae were present, among others.
