Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday inaugurated a new cooperation related awareness programme titled ‘Cooperation at your doorstep’ at state secretariat here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “The government has taken a number of steps for the development of agriculture and farmers in the state. Crop loans up to Rs 50, 000 are being provided to farmers at 1 percent rate of interest and the conditions for availing term loans have also been relaxed for share linkage groups.”
“About 65 percent of agricultural loans are being provided to farmers through cooperative organisations. Target has been set to providers 1, 000 crore towards term loans and Rs 200 crore for credit linkage of joint liability groups”, the CM added.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between NABARD and Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) for formation of credit linkage of joint liability group.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister unveiled the vision document prepared by cooperation department for strengthening the short term cooperative credit structure.
He also awarded three best performing Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) with Rs 1 lakh each. They are Purrusottampur of Balasore, Kalamuchhuin of Dhenkanal and Harichandanpur of Keonjhar district.
