Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Sabu Dina Jiba School, Upasthana-2018 Abhiyan’ (going to school every day, students’ attendance-2018 Abhiyan).
In a meeting at the State Secretariat, the CM announced that the state government would give out awards to panchayats with 100 per cent school attendance. The main aim of the abhiyan is to ensure regular attendance of students in primary schools as school plays a major role in the development of a child’s personality.
It was informed that parents, guardians, students, teachers and elected leaders at the panchayat level will be involved in the abhiyan. There is a need to spread awareness about the benefits of and need for regular attendance among people. This could be through mass media and booklets.
School and mass education Minister Badri Narayan Patra, the development commissioner, school and mass education department secretary, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representatives and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
