Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of the smart toilet project on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
A total of 60 pre-fabricated modular toilets will be set up by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) at 30 designated crowded locations in the city. Of these, 30 are for men and the rest for women.
While some of the toilets will be fully automatic, the rest would be semi-automatic or manually operated.
The fully-automatic ones will require card entrance facility and toilets will get cleaned on their own.
The BMC has given the responsibility for constructing these toilets to Eram Scientific Solutions Private Limited.
Besides, the Chief Minister also launched two mechanical sweeping machines to take up street sweeping work in the state capital. The major routes to be covered are Rasulgarh to Khandagiri, Power House Square to KIIT Square and Governor House Square to Siripur Square.
